The conservative commentators who absolutely despise President Trump are in a box.
During the campaign, many loudly proclaimed that they could never vote for Trump. But they said they didn't want Hillary Clinton to win either. So some opted for fringe candidates or third-party candidates or write-in candidates or told people to make up their own minds.
This was something of a charade. Either Trump or Clinton was going to be the next president. So by refusing to back Trump, they were increasing the chances that Hillary would win.
Now, with the midterms approaching, some of those on the right are taking the step that they refused to take in 2016: They are openly rooting for the Democrats.
This is how topsy-turvy our politics have become.

Max Boot, for one. Like many people, I long ago stopped reading the output of conservative think tanks so I don’t really know who the hell this guy is. But he’s one of the major ones.
Ultimately, what’s better for the country is also better for their portfolios in the long term anyway (pensions probably neutral), although they lose control that way and there could be short term pain.
It sounds like somebody has been hittin’ da happy smoke over the holiday.
Its not that they hate Trump. They hate normal AMERICANS.
they were (and still are) eclectic opportunists
Sorry, but when you refuse to accept the duly elected choice of the people, you are are NOT a conservative. In fact, these non-conservatives sound exactly the same as the elitists in the Democrat Socialist Party..........so I'd say they have finally been unmasked
“It is time for Trump to declare a new National Party for his supporters to flock to, and leave the democrat/RINO/progressive party to flock to theirs.”
I agree. Left/right, democrat/republican, it is all just a smoke screen. I bet politicians from both sides sit in a back room, smoking cigars lit with our tax dollars, laughing their a$$’$ off at us. You go out tomorrow and say this, then I will say this and we will have the people fighting against each other, too busy to realize we are fleecing them dry.
Republicans and democrats both hate Trump equally. They hate him because he is for the people. He cannot be bought, and they have no leverage to force him to do their will.
The best part is, he now has access to all their wrong doings. This is what they fear, a true American in their midst, with the keys to the entire history of their wrong doing.
This is what the American people have needed for a very long time. People waking up, seeing what is happening, and thank you to our president for opening so many eyes.
Let us hope that the walk away movement picks up steam, let us hope that a Republican equivalent starts, and let us hope that all these good Americans bind together to get rid of these political monsters once and for all.
Is it a new party? Maybe. Maybe it is the beginning of the end for all parties. Maybe parties were never needed in the first place. Maybe parties only serve to keep us at each others throats so the evil that runs them can be free to take everything we create.
Remember Howard Kurtz used to be on CNN.
Really hard to ever live that down in my estimation.
If ratings dive or money in a new contract deal is no good he will be on MSNBC nodding obediently to wise words from Joe and Mika, or on CNN telling Blitzer “You look so handsome today.”
If George Will and Bill Kristol were ever worthy of being listened to, that day is long past. Ridiculously elite and proof of the Deep State.
They were never conservatives. Moles for the left to keep the majority in line and demoralized. Delphi Technique.
The irony is that these are the exact same people who told us that we were "helping the Democrats" or "wasting our vote" when we had second thoughts about voting for candidates like Bush, McCain, or Romney. Where's their party loyalty now that the shoe is on the other foot?
Isn’t that a safe Rat seat that was ‘uncontested’unleft a national socialist candidate ran?
Would you have said vote for David Duke as well ( a former Democrat fotmer Independent one time RINO)?
But it is not only the “conservative (er, republican) politicians” - the unnamed ones who this piece is seemingly applauding - that are being both concealed and promoted - but their campaign consultants AND their hundreds of unseen Staff Rats who remain in de feral (er, federal) government its bureaucrats.
In some ways,it is the bureaucrats who are most powerful, because they are unseen but enforce and implement their private political ideologies like they did in the EPA-FBI-IRS-DOE-DOE-CIA-NSA. But the repubbie Staff Rats continue to pollute every decision made by newly elected and long-time re-elected politicians such as Collins, Snow, Graham, Thune, Flake, McCain, and others.
It is not just the open communist allies like Murkowski, Schumer, Pelosi, (former) Kennedy, Kerry. It is that fifth column of deceit that props up their tent.
Agree - like Hillary, they hate Trump voters a thousand times more than they hate Trump himself. People like Bill Kristol, Max Boot, David Frum, and George Will still can't forgive us for picking a candidate of our choice during the primaries, as opposed to putting a crown on the head of Jeb Bush or whoever else the RNC higher-ups approved of.
They are not leaving it...they were never on it.
George Will, Peggy Noonan, David Brooks, Max Boot, etc., who claim to be Conservatives but seem to be Democrats in Sheep's Clothing.
They are more interested in preserving their spaces on the A list cocktail circuits than any principled beliefs they claim to have.
Trump has given them everything they claim to have wanted for years and what do they do, they all become Never Trumpers and betray everything they said they stood for. They exposed themselves for the Frauds they were and are.
Not to mention losing any and all credibility. They might as well become Democrats and proudly embrace the Leftist and Socialism they claim to have been against. What absolute Mendacious Hypocrites!!!!!!!!!!!!
The tyranny of the anecdote.
They never were conservatives. It was just profitable for them to act like they were.
Well said.
