On Fourth of July, US cities celebrate America’s newest citizens

This Fourth of July, nearly 14,000 immigrants become America’s newest citizens, swearing the oath of allegiance at 27 naturalization ceremonies across the nation that coincide with the country’s 242nd birthday and the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

“When oath ceremonies are tied to the Fourth of July, it’s a message that immigrants believe in this country. It’s a beautiful and emotional thing,” Joshua Hoyt, executive director of the National Partnership for New Americans, said. “United nations, from Albania to Yemen, are represented in the ceremonies.”

Hoyt added that NPNA believes “naturalization is good for the immigrants, their communities, and our nation,” while contributing to “higher incomes” and “social cohesion.”

Wednesday's ceremonies come on the heels of a July 2 report from NPNA claiming an 88% increase in the backlog of U.S. citizenship applications since 2015, in addition to an ongoing immigration crisis that’s drawn nationwide protest.

The number of people becoming citizens between June 28 and July 10 marks a slight decrease from last year, when nearly 15,000 people took the oath, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, but a sharp increase from 2016, when about 7,000 did so during the same time period.

I have been to one of these 4 th of July citizenship ceremonies and it was very inspiring , the people more educated and appreciative than average Americans on the street

Not necessarily. Legal immigrants who make the effort to become citizens often really appreciate our nation. Many of them have come from countries where leftists or radical Islamic types have been in power. They don't vote for leftists.

I’ll start. I have 2 Chinese immigrants in my house, my wife and son. They came here on legal visas and have since naturalized. They both are highly against illegal immigration. They see that as cheating those that follow the rules. They also see it as damaging the country.

My Russian wife became a citizen last year. She'll be voting for the first time this November. She won't be voting for Democrats.

FWIW, her brother in Russia has a Trump sticker on his car. He was begging for one so we mailed it to him!

If we could keep the number to 14,000 a year, we’d have no issues with immigration. It’s the other 976,000 that we allow in a year that makes it a mess and that’s before counting illegal immigration. There is no reason to have a million people become citizens a year.

I met a legal, naturalized immigrant from Africa who heard his teenage son repeating liberal nonsense he had heard at school. He sent his son to spend the summer in Nigeria with an aunt and uncle.

The father explained to me that he did it to show his son how wrong the teachers in his school were. He chuckled when he told me how spending a summer in an un-airconditioned farm house in Nigeria seeing poverty all around him seemed to have made an impression on his son.

Don’t be so welcoming. I saw a picture in our local newspaper of hundreds of immigrants who became citizens. I searched through the crowd and did not see any Europeans. I have noticed this several other times, it is becoming very. obvious. The globalists don’t want any more Trump voters. Look at the 1965 change in the immigration laws that made non European immigrants the majority. Look at all of the illegal immigrants that have been pouring into the country for decades and how the Democrats and the Establishment Republicans welcome them going so far as to create sanctuary cities for them. See what is going on in Europe—same thing, the globalists in the EU are bringing in millions of people from far off lands and different cultures. The same thing is going on in Australia and Canada. They have a plan which is to do away with nations and replace them with a one world government. Look up One World Government and you will find that term has been used by the elites for about a century.

You know even the shortsighted history informs us that in 2016 we AGAIN had an American Revolution of INDEPENDENCE via or VOTES.

That forces beyond our control and outside this country were on all fronts bleeding us dry. Time to level-set the situation.
