It has been a peeve of mine for decades...the lowering of the flag for nearly every reason.

I think it promotes an atmosphere of national victimhood, and I hate it.

Pearl Harbor? Yes.

9/11? Yep.

The death of a former President, even one I hate? I can go along with that.

Ted Kennedy or Barry Goldwater? No.

Whitney Houston or any other actor or musician? NO, NO, NO!

If a local government wants to do it on a day for a policeman or firefighter who died in the line of duty, I wouldn’t object, but not for a week at at time.

And definitely not for people who die in fires, auto accidents, or crimes.
