Lowering the flag has gotten totally out of hand. It used to be that this was done only in extraordinary cases of national mourning. Now people do it whenever something bad happens, and other people catch heat for not doing it when somebody else thinks they should.
Lowering the flag for every mass shooting is ridiculous. This is escpecially true if it happens in a state or location where the people cannot defend themselves properly.
