I’m no political operative, but in retrospect, it looks like they badly messed up.

After the Dems assassinated Scalia, the plan was for Hillary to win and replace with Bill Maher.

Bill Maher doesn’t have a law degree, as far as I know. (Does he have a high school diploma?). Sheila Jackson Lee would have been a more likely choice for Hillary—law school graduate, Yalie, female, black. Much better than a white male.
