I recall reading a BBC live blog at the time, with the reporter surprised those who were around him didn’t seem to know who Obama was. there was also talk that every Thursday night in this section of Berlin, there were street markets, etc.
it was definitely one of the most staged events ever...and the FakeNewsMSM went right along with it.

I remember that. And I also remember something about a popular band being brought in with free beer for all. They knew how to attract a crowd for his benefit.
The band and the beer were the big attraction.
