The Queens Democratic machine was left on autopilot while the commie queens went door to door. Celebrity didn’t hurt none.
Also, Crowley never won in the proper way to begin with. When the previous congresscritter of the 14th was seriously ill, he stepped down so Crowley could crawl in. NY Times said “so much for elections.”
But Times was really mad because previous guy was pro-life in a neighborhood that was more Irish at the time (20 years ago) and Crowley pledged to be pro-life too. He wasn’t, and further enraged his constituents by changing his residence to Virginia while chair of the Queens County Dem Party.
