When they held the first "occupy Wall Street" action several years ago, I opined that this apparently trivial exercise was in fact a dry run for later action. They tested out tactics and operations, but didn't really pull the trigger. They didn't disband though, as continuing email networks, listservs, and other means of maintaining their organization testify.

Now, they have reached the degree of alienation and commitment to destruction that they will escalate "resistance" to genuine obstruction and violence. Notice the new tactic of "occupying" ICE facilities; the small scale terrorist attacks and aggravated menacing against government officials; the overt calls for violence. I suspect these will escalate until some hit and run raid against the government elicits a violent response.

If the upcoming elections do not assuage the leftwingers, and if Congress remains in republican hands, then I would expect trouble beyond what we have seen so far.
