The Trump administration will not reunite any migrant children with parents still held in immigrant detention facilities unless current federal law changes first, a top administration official told Congress on Tuesday.
The statement by Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, whose agency currently has custody of 2.047 children separated from their parents after being apprehended crossing the border illegally, confirmed what immigrant advocates have feared: The administration will reunite children with their parents quickly only if the parents drop their claims for asylum in the U.S. and agree to be deported.
Under administration policy, immigrants claiming asylum are held in detention awaiting a hearing — a process that can often take months or years. Because current law only allows children to be held in immigrant detention facilities for 20 days, his agency would not place any of the children with parents who are in those facilities, Azar said.
"If the parent remains in detention, unfortunately, under rules that are set by Congress and the courts, they can't be reunified while they're in detention," Azar said.

But what about the recent court order to re-unite them that contradicts Flores?

If the parent has broken the law (just by crossing, but it could be for a hundred other reasons), then the child will not be paired up in some jail-house situation.
The judge is pretending that there is no charge pending with the adult-parent. If this is the second crossing, and the second apprehension (someone can correct if I’m wrong), you are now on felony charges and face real jail-time. None of that was taken into account by the judge.
Also, DNA tests to see if the claimed relations are indeed so.
Which, also has the happy byproduct of uniquely identifying said illegals forever, despite any false identities or documentation they might accumulate.
The recent order in CA is unenforceable.

There are only two issues in the mid-terms:
1. The strength of the U.S. economy.
2. The protection of America’s borders.
The Dems already had an uphill battle in the face of the booming economy ignited by President Trump’s policies. Now they have to face an electorate that knows that only the President has America’s back. Any pretence of Democrat “balance” on border issues has been removed by the success of the extreme open borders leftists who are winning primaries and hogging the MSM limelight.
If the Republican candidates stick to those two issues, November will see a Red surge. Stay on message. Never back down. Never apologize.

refugee/asylum status should just be ended, send them all back, we’ve taken more than our share already, let canada or some other country take them instead.
I agree. Watch for the Dems to try and get abortion back on the front burner. They’ve had luck with that in the past.
This is why asylum applications have gone up over 1000%, they are gaming the system.
If the parents decide to not take the kids, are their charges changed to human trafficking?

I posted an article yesterday about the OK supreme court ordering the state to spend a certain minimum amount on public schools.
It implied that the court would close all OK public schools if the state didnt comply.
Could one of the courts order Catch-and-Release or no-catch if Trump admin doesnt comply?

Public schools wouldn’t have so many budget problems if they didn’t have so many non English speaking students.
Bothers me that focus is on kids as Get Out of Jail and completely lost is that they don't belong here. HOW MANY HAVE BEEN RETURNED TO THEIR HOME COUNTRIES OR TO MEXICO? Need to end letting them stay.
