Parkland parent slams N.J. Senate President Sweeney on Twitter over gun fees

The parent of a child killed in the Parkland shooting massacre ripped New Jersey state Senate President Stephen Sweeney on social media for not publicly supporting Gov. Phil Murphy's push to increase fees for buying and selling firearms in the state.

The move, which Murphy has pressed for months, was part of the budget proposal the Democratic governor sent to legislative leaders from his own party in June.

But it was not included in the budget passed by the state Senate and Assembly last week, leading to outcry from gun control advocates.

Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaime was killed in the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, questioned on Twitter why Sweeney -- New Jersey's top lawmakers -- was opposed to the fee increase.

“Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaime was killed in the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting....”

While I have sympathy for the family of anyone murdered - let alone a child with so much of their life ahead of them, and so much promise - that sympathy ends with their desire to take away my rights and my property, and to thereby compromise my ability to protect MYself and MY family. Why do I (or anyone else, for that matter) have to be a victim, too?

This guy is either still emotionally distraught (which is understandable), or he was a Leftist gun-grabber to begin with, or a little of both. If emotionally-distraught, I wish for him to have some peace of mind as soon as possible. If either of the other things, then he can piss up a rope for using his daughter’s tragic demise for political purposes.

Besides which, this guy is in FLORIDA, and Sweeney and his colleagues are in NEW JERSEY - so WTF does Guttenberg care about what happens in Jersey?

In view of these facts, I’m leaning toward him not being quite so emotionally distraught - he’s now trying to intervene in a key political controversy in another state, and that’s not what emotionally distraught people do, it is what political whores do.

FWIW, I’m glad to be an escaped refugee from the dark and fascist Peoples Republik of New Joisey - I left there with enough normal capacity magazines to earn me about 200 years of time in Rahway State Prison, and brought myself, them, and a bunch of guns and ammo to Texas, Free America. Oh, and in the intervening nearly 2 decades, I’ve bought more, LOTS more.

This guy Guttenberg, and his fellow traveler Hogg, can go to Hell.

Dear Dumbass,

$95 on the margin would not have made any difference in the case of your child.

That is all.

Guttenberg sounds like a real moron. Fees don’t save anybody. All they do is put more money in the pockets of greedy politicians.

I'd question why Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaime was killed in the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, favors free-range crazy people, like the one who murdered his daughter.

BTW, while most of the increases just amount to more harassment in addition to all the hoops one already needs to jump through (fingerprints, mental health records checks, 2 letters of reference, etc etc.) just about the only people who can actually get handgun carry permits here in the People's Republic are retired LEOs.

Raising that fee from $50 to $400 seems world-class stupid. I'd think Murphy would see much less of a problem with retired LEOs in Trenton carrying than a recently paroled for a murder conviction Blood in Trenton carrying.

Guttenberg doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the failures of the school district and sheriffs department that facilitated the massacre.

"The parent of a child killed in the Parkland shooting massacre ripped New Jersey state Senate President..."

No one was "ripped." It's only hysterical talk.

My only question to Mr Guttenberg would be for him to explain why he thinks an additional tax as proposed would have changed the Parkland shooters mind or stopped him from wanting to kill other students. Numerous laws against murder/harm to others and numerous gun laws already on the books did not have any effect. Why would this tax have changed anything except to further burden law abiding citizens?
