The Washington Post editorial board defended White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Sunday after she was kicked out of a Virginia restaurant.
The never-at-rest social media has blurred the lined of public and private life, the newspapers board wrote.
It wasnt the first time recently that strong political feelings have spilled into what used to be considered the private sphere, the editorial board wrote. We understand the strength of the feelings, but we dont think the spilling is a healthy development.
Earlier this week, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsens dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Washington, D.C., was interrupted by protesters.
The same thing happened days later to Trumps top immigration adviser, Stephen Miller, who was called a fascist while dining at another Mexican restaurant.
We nonetheless would argue that Ms. Huckabee, and Ms. Nielsen and Mr. Miller, too, should be allowed to eat dinner in peace, the editorial board wrote.
The editorial came the day after Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) called on her supporters to continue confronting Trump officials in public.

I’d have cooked their meals myself to be sure my mostly gay staff didn’t spit in their food. Where did she find so many homosexuals in an Appalachian location like that, go looking for them?
The Lexington area is about 6,000 in population. My guess is that she found one or two individuals (probably a cook and a waitress) who were gay, and they were able to get friends hired. The owner and the employees seem to be all like-minded social warrior types.
If she runs her business by employee-votes....it’s doomed for the most part. They might get some upsurge this week of Hillary-voters showing up and making up for business losses, but I just don’t see that being a sustainable business plan.
Yes, it's amazing how suddenly magnanimous demoncraps can be once their polling starts to tank as a consequence of their actions.
The county has ~22K people, with another city about as big as Lexington. The area went for Trump 2 to 1. It is a tourist area, so I would expect filling tables isn't a problem during the summer months. The problem the Red Hen might have is during the off season. The owner just alienated 2/3rds of her local customer base.
Taking a broader view of the situation, a baker in Colorado went all the way to the Supreme Court for the right to decide who he would serve and who he wouldn’t. If he has that right then so does this restaurant owner.
Maybe a few of these idiots realize they are about to get seriously hurt if they keep terrorizing us....remember which side loves guns.....
Blind Squirrel, meet broken Clock.
I don't think the court ever entirely decided that. Just that he was treated unfairly by the civil rights commission. There is still wiggle room for future cases.
Personally, I think the owner should have had a sign on the door that read Trump voters and officials are not welcome. There are plenty of other places to buy $30 pork chops.
I don’t know why, but your reply made me laugh!
True, but that doesn't change the facts of what he went to court to decide; whether he could be forced to provide services to someone against his will.

I think that should be true of any shop who has a class of people they don't want to provide service to.
One can only hope.......
Although Sarah and husband departed for home after the Red Hen round 1, the remainder of her party proceeded to a second restaurant. Stephanie Wilkinson followed them and proceeded to rabble-rouse at that location.
Added RedHenLex, because yesterday it was trending on Twitter. Most tweets were extremely supportive of Sanders.
By backfiring, do you mean the looney-left response? And by getting out in front, what do you mean? WaCompost is afraid it’s going to become horrible, so they want it on record they said not to do it?
Spilling?
If you hear whether or not it’s true, can you ... message or mail me?
Is tsunami a negative word to use, instead of wave?
Trump’s ‘antics’ have never made me uncomfortable. Well, sleeping with a porn star is insulting to his wife, but I consider that normal behavior nowadays.
I hadn’t heard that part of the story. If true, then she’s an obsessive person always out for a vendetta. As a business owner, that strategy won’t work.
her restaurant probably won't survive another year. she would rather have liberals than customers.
