Don't be so glib and blasé about the possibility of a civil war in this country. It wouldn't be neat and easy; it would be nasty and mean and vicious. Neighbor against neighbor, for there is nowhere the vote was 100% one side or the other. Family members against family members; friends against former friends, and personal enemies using the disorder to even old scores. Read up on the original Civil War in places like Eastern Tennessee/Western North Carolina or Western Virginia/West Virginia or Missouri.
And it would be even worse for our conservative values. An orderly, law-abiding, constitutional society would likely go the way of the civil peace. Freedoms would probably be replaced by forced conformity to the local social/political consensus, dissenters to be lynched.
So don't find it so surprising that many of us conservatives regard the possibility of civil strife with horror. We will fight if we have to, or can, but we won't LIKE it.
Amen, FRiend.
