That expression has been around FOREVER-——and I doubt anyone ever considered it racial-——until now.

Me, too. And I’ve never said it to a black person. It’s a common figure of speech, not racist, and Payne should’ve the better man and laughed off. Now he’s become one of the perpetually offended class.
