Henry Kerner is an American lawyer who serves as the Special Counsel in the United States Office of Special Counsel.

Kerner grew up in Munich, Germany.
Education
Kerner received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in history from the University of California, Los Angeles before obtaining his J.D. at Harvard Law School.[when?]
Career
He worked for 18 years as a prosecutor in California before moving[when?] to Washington D.C. to work on Capitol Hill.[1] In 2011, Kerner joined the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, working beneath Under Chairman Darrell Issa and Chairman Jason Chaffetz.[1][citation needed]
He was also staff director under Ranking Member John McCain at the United States Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. In early 2016, Kerner became Assistant Vice President for Investigations at the nonprofit Cause of Action Institute.[1][2][citation needed] In May 2017, President Donald Trump nominated Kerner to become Special Counsel at the United States Office of Special Counsel[3][2][4]. He was confirmed by the 115th Congress with final voting from the U.S. Senate in October 2017.[5][6]
Special Counsel Kerner issued a statement declaring that “Kellyanne Conway, one of President Donald Trumps top advisers, violated federal law in two television interviews last year by using her White House position to weigh in on a political race” on March 6, 2017.[7]
