I was doing a job at a church a few years ago. I got to know the janitor. He was from Ecuador or Guatemala, I’m old, I forget which.

One day he tells me he is going to take his citizenship oath. He spent many years and mucho dollars but he was proud as hell that he did it right. He didn’t have to look over his shoulder or keep hiding like so many do.

He was no fan of illegals who swam across and expected free stuff the same day.

People that do it the legal way are forgotten in all the hoopla. Putting forth the effort to come here legally and go through the legal process is not mentioned in the media, they want people to believe that is not possible.

You cannot imagine how many people over the years have told me if only there was a legal way for people from Mexico and Central America to come here it would solve the illegal immigration problems. The media has been successful in convincing people there is no legal way now in our system. Mind boggling.

Every time illegal immigrants are given any concession I think of all the people who have done it the right way, and as you said it often takes years. How on earth do they feel when things are demanded by and for illegals. When illegals are given all the breaks- it has to be like a kick in the teeth to those who choose to do it the legal way.

This is wrong, and there is no other way to look at it. This country has been ignoring those that do it the right way, and rewarding people breaking our laws.
