Caroline Glick is one of the smartest, most astute Jewish writers around. That is why she is not liked both in the US (by the liberals) and in Europe, and if I recall correctly, by the Israeli Left.
The “Forward” was at one time a decent democratic socialist newspapers (They published a column of mine many years ago and I knew a couple of the key editors/writers). However, a major chism took place in this paper about 10-20 years ago and it split, with some writers/editors going to the pro-America “New York Post”.
I used to be the investigative reporter one extremist movements in the US and on the PLO Lobby in particular, for the old “Jewish Week” (then referred to as the DC JW as opposed to its parent, the major publication, the New York Jewish Week (run by the late Phil Hockstein, who gave me my first assignment in 1970 while he was the DC editor. He soon went to head the NY paper and his wonderful son Joe, took over the DC paper with his wife Ann, who died at a relatively young age.
Joe decided to make “Aliyah” to Israel with his two sons, Mark and I’ve forgotten the younger one’s name, not too long after Ann died. My son played with Mark at their house in McLean, Va.
Mark was wounded in action against Hezbollah and died of his wounds. His younger brother just missed getting hit by a PLO/affiliate’s bomb at an airport, possibly in Austria.
Back then the Hockstein’s ran their newspapers like real newspapers, with real news, investigative stories, interviews (I did one with Rabbi Meir Kahane; the other with Soviet Jewish political prisoner Avram Shifrin, who spent 10 years in the Soviet gulag system, starting with Lubyanka Prison in Moscow to the Trans-Siberian Railroad line run to slave labor camps in Siberia (Potma to Lake Baikal, the latter being one of Stalin’s potential end-of-the-line killing fields for Soviet Jews in 1953). No other Jewish paper I contacted in 1972 would touch the Shifrin story, with one major editor telling me that Shifrin was “too anti-communist” and his readers won’t like it.
That last comment has summed up the general (there were a few honorable exceptions) cowardice of the Jewish press to deal with real-life issues and the threats of the communist/Arab-Palestinian/Iranian mullahs covert wars against Israel and Judaism in general.
We had that leftist anti-”Zionist”, “anti-occupation” crap from Breira, New Jewish Agenda, and Michael Lerner (of the Marxist violent group, the “Seattle 7), editor of the far left, anti-Israel magazine, “Tikkun” (see their last couples of issues and you’ll know whose side they are Not on).
Try to get a copy of the monograph study by Rael Jean Isaac, “The Anti-(New) Jewish Agenda” put out by Americans for a Safe Israel, AFSI, 1987, address might still be 114 East 28 Street, NYC, NY 10016). Well worth reading.
I have put in a little personal history here with Jewish publications and radical Jews because as Glick and others have so astutely noted, the American Left, which was once not so anti-Jewish as it was anti-Israel, has now become a full-blown force for anti-Semitism. It has incorporated once mildly leftist Jews (some now from the far-left Reconstructionist Movement, i.e. the old Marxist Rabbi Arthur Waskow and a lot of new female radical rabbis from the East Coast), to many members of the Democrat Party, especially in Congress.
You can write off the Congressional Black Caucus as anything other than near virulent anti-Israel, and implicit in it is anti-Semitism, esp. against White American Jews who are conservative. I’ve been writing, along with a few others, about this issue for decades, having followed the pro-PLO stances and support that key CBC leaders/members have given PLO fronts and operations in the US since 1977 (i.e. the Palestine Human Rights Campaigns & fronts; the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee, including PHRC leaders, some of whom were lifelong members and/or supporters of the Communist Party USA - Rep. John Conyers Jr; Jack O’Dell - SCLC,Op. Breadbasket; Op. PUSH, Rainbow Coalition, etc).
Add in the destruction of the once moderate NAACP, led by Rev. Benjamin Chavis, a CPUSA front man since the 1970s - National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression, the old Angela Davis Defense Fund, and this blithering racist recent leader Benjamin Jealous, and you had the top respectable major black “civil rights” organization turn so far to the Left that it will never come back to sanity. And latent anti-Semitism is coming up like a weed from under the ground.
Rev. Al Sharpton, and his fake National Action Network, is another example of a con-artist, anti-Semite, seizing control of the media and promoting his blithering, incoherent anti-white, anti-Israel, anti-Asian bigotry, with the mainstream media publishing it without a challenge or care that he’s a self-promoted psychopath (giving Obama a run for his money in that area).
Obama and his treasonous crew. So anti-Israel that if we had only a half-honest mainstream media in this country, he would never have become a U.S. Senator, no less the president. His staff included hardcore reds like Anita “Mao was a great philosopher” Tse-tung; Valerie Jarrett, whose family/in-laws had serious connections to the Communist Party and/or other leftist groups; Van Jones, one of the coolest psychopathic reds I’ve come across in 50 years of reporting; and Obama’s often secret operative to Saddam and other radical Arabs, Robert Malley, son of Soviet asset Simon Malley, a cofounder of one of Egypt’s Communist Parties (1948 - his was Moscow oriented if not directed).
If you haven’t seen anything in the press about Malley except that he was sort of removed from an advisory role in the State Department or the NSC (I’m not sure which) because of some misstep he made that caused Obie some problems, but he surfaced again regarding some covert ties to Assad’s regime (literally no details on this were published, only a brief blurb somewhere). Later he was with the leftist International Crisis Group (this might be found at www.DiscoverTheNetwork.org).
Some of Obama’s top political/campaign support groups including Progressives for Obama and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), are very anti-Israel and border on anti-Semitic using the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement as their cover.
Congress: Democrats - so many are anti-Israel that I can’t list them all but rising nutcase Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wisc); Ellison, Minnesota; and Sen. Bernie Sanders, a communist who calls himself a “socialist” and “progressive”, and so many more (See; “The Enemies Within: Communists, Socialist and Progressives in the U.S. Congress”, 2013-15 edition, Trevor Loudon (Author of “Barack Obama and the Enemies Within”, Pacific Freedom Foundation, www.PacificFreedomFoundation.org”).
As radio show host Mark Levin has noted, “progressivism is the bastard child of Marxism.”
Caroline Glick has taken all of the above and some other information (i.e. The Million Women’s March”, etc) and distilled their anti-Semitic underlying attitudes into this great article.
My goal, and that of other Freepers I know, is to try and wake up very stupid, blind, liberal/leftist, guilt-ridden Jewish Americans who, in lockstep with the Democrat Party leadership (a ship of fools, if you will), are heading to the very anti-semites who are going control of the Democrat Party, that they unjustly condemn in the very pro-Israel Republican Party.
They are like the lemming who follow their leader to their deaths, much like many Jews in 1930’s Germany and Austria. And remember, Roosevelt did damned little to save European Jews until it became politically expedient to do so by supporting a weak Jewish organization led by leftist Rabbi Stephen Wise.
Bomb the concentration camps? No! Let the passengers from the St. Louis come to the US or Cuba? NO! Tell the New York Times to tell the truth about the concentration camps? No!
Tell the very anti-Semitic State Department to really help European Jews escape? No! (There were some very honorable SD officials in Europe who defied Roosevelt and their organization to help save as many Jews as they could, and we must not forget their heroism).
Today, the Democrat Party is in danger of becoming the “Lockstep Fascist Party with a very Red Tinge to it”, the “perfect storm of merging Marxist ideology with fascist lockstep mindlessness”, using their tactics to brand their political opponents with being just what they are, anti-Semitic.
Ask yourself one question: In an emergency, who would you trust - Barack Obama and Valerie Jarrett, Nancy Pelosi, Dick Durbin, Chuck Schumer, Keith Ellision, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, or Donald Trump, John Bolton, Gen. Mattis, Amb. Nikki Haley, VP Pence, and DHS head Nielsen?
