I don’t think there is much wrong with the French military - just with its political leadership.

The French Army along with the US 7th Army (Sixth Corps) landed a month later on the Riviera and pushed into Germany from the South. They actually were more successful than Bradley's Army in the North fighting the Germans. The French were on the Right Flank of the US Army and gave the Germans more than they could handle.
