The following excerpt will surely appear at the top of the “new and improved" 1040. (sarc)
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States."—Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

Patriots, we need to support Pres. Trump in leading the states to repeal the ill-conceived 17th Amendment.

The 16th Amendment needs to disappear too.

There is only room on the card for the notice regarding the paperwork reduction act, who are they kidding?

By the way, the paper work reduction act was passed with Reagan and ignored for the most part but still operates an expensive office rubber stamping all govt requests and forms instead of asking , “is this necessary?”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paperwork_Reduction_Act

But they do prepare nice reports on the time burden on tax payers but it doesn’t change anything...…….

The plain writing act of 2010 is also interesting:

But who files their taxes on paper?

I did this year. I had been doing my taxes online for several years but got fed up with the service I was using. They forced me to create forms that weren't required to be submitted with the paper form. The requirement to fill out a Obamacare form when it wasn't needed the year before was the last straw.

The Paperwork Reduction Act mandates that all federal government agencies receive approval from OMB—in the form of a “control number”—before promulgating a paper form, website, survey or electronic submission that will impose an information collection burden on the general public.[18] The term “burden” is defined as anything beyond “that necessary to identify the respondent, the date, the respondent’s address, and the nature of the instrument.”[19] No one may be penalized for refusing an information collection request that does not display a valid control number.[20] Once obtained, approval must be renewed every three years.[21]

Me, too. I’ve been using TurboTax for years, but this year, they decided I needed the “premium” version at a higher price. Nope.

I’ve been using excel1040 to do my elderly inlaws’ taxes for several years, and this year I did my own taxes with it. It really takes less time than turbotax.

I was doing mine online thinking it is more secure and if I had a refund I would receive it quicker. After all the hacks in the last few years, I questioned if submitting it online is really more secure and worth the hassle since I have a relatively simple calculations. I use the 1040A form..

You should try Free Fillable Forms, the online version of paper. You just pick whatever forms you want, fill them out, and file electronically.

Take a look at this. This guy has “built” all the forms on excel, including all schedules and attachments. All necessary calculations are built in.

Not good enough- make it the size of a postage stamp, and we’re in business

There's a a set of amendments here, one of which contains flat-tax restrictions. (These amendments are from a document posted here on FR a while ago, one of the ArticleV guys has the link.)
