Please spare me the histrionics. I’ve been a huge (no, YUUUUUGE!) fan of Bibi’s since he was Israel’s UN ambassador. I have recognized that there would be no better person to represent the face of Israel than him since that time. However, you have to understand that while Israel’s voters will tolerate infidelity among its male leaders (like, for example, Rabin and Moshe Dayan), they will not tolerate corruption (Ehud Olmert is in jail as we speak). This occurred in Bibi’s own house, so if she’s found guilty it will not help him in any way. Israel is like the US - fairly evenly divided between the crazy Leftists and reasonable, freedom-oriented adults...so it doesn’t take much to tip an election.

I sure hope that it is BS. As for “not helping,” not one single person in Israel will be influenced by my opinions, even if delivered in person (and not on FR). So that is utterly irrelevant.

Well, if those are the rules I suppose it's legitimate if she lied in a provable way about the availability of a chef. The Obama's would have paid for this from somewhere, likely their personal account. Though the likelihood that the Obama's couldn't find a reason to visit a restaurant is low. It's a different system. Bibi has posted his wage statements. In US$ he's paid pretty well, about $150m per year. But his take home is about $4500 a month. Taxes, pension contribution and such. And deductions for "personal" items the government doesn't cover. Large amount I know. But the biggest, depending on the source, is his armored limo at $3500 to $4000 a month. The three cell phones used only for government business. Things like that. Imagine billing Pelosi for her speaker jet. If I recall she billed the government for the booze. I wonder, who paid for her servers? She didn't, but if not the government, who? Foundation? Undisclosed donors?
