Captain Marvel will be a big deal movie. Make no mistake.

Carol Danvers in the comics was not a bad character, at least not when she was introduced in, I’m thinking 1970’s.

The original Marvel Captain Marvel was Mar-Vell a Kree warrior who gained cosmic power before he eventually died of cancer.

As I recall Danvers was in the original Captain Marvel series and eventually gained the original’s powers. That was a long time ago.

In the MCU, apparently the Carol Danvers Captain Marvel will come out being the most powerful being in the MCU, able to move planets (at least according to the lead actor Brie Larson).

Generally, I’m not a fan of changing male characters into female characters but, in this case, I’m trying to keep an open mind.

Avengers: Infinity War ended with Thanos wiping out half of the sentient beings in the universe with a snap of his fingers after he gained the powers of the infinity gems. At the end, right before he turned to dust, Nick Fury used his secret decoder ring to summon Captain Marvel from wherever she is in the universe.

“Captain Marvel” will take place during the 1990’s with the major conflict being between the Kree and the Skulls. The Skulls are really cool because they are shape-changers, and many of the heroes who died may end up having been Skrulls. In addition, there will likely be a time travel dimension in Avengers 4, but regardless, many heroes who were obliterated will be somehow resurrected (think Spider-Man).

I’m not prejudging the character nor the first two movies in which she will appear. The mythology has held up well over time and the MCU has yet to produce a real dud. I’m willing to give it a chance.

Mine Mine Marvel.

Original member of the Merry Marvel Marching Society from the mid-1960’s.

Mar-Vell: Marvel Super-Heroes #12, December 1967.

Carol Danvers: Marvel Super-Heroes #13, March 1968.

Mar-Vell’s Kree DNA infused with Carol’s Human DNA: Ms. Marvel #1, January 1977.

Carol Danvers finally adopts Mar-Vell’s moniker (after being Ms. Marvel, et cetera): July 2012.

Regardlees of the current SJW usurpation, the comic character has a long and legitimate history, including with The Avengers.

I owned Captain Marvel #1 (May 1968) once. (Roy Thomas, Gene Colan)

As I see it, Captain Marvel is taking the role of Adam Warlock against Thanos in the Infinity War; he had the Soul Gem (mirrored in the MCU by Vision with the Mind Stone).

Since both Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock had cosmic connections, it makes some sense.

Merry Marvel Marching Society

I seem to remember a song that went something like:

We belong we belong to the Merry Marvel Marching Society
Step along step along to the Merry Marvel Marching Society.

My best friend was a Marvel person. I was more of a DC guy.
