Good if he gets a visit, then apologizes. Not sure if this warrants charges. He didn’t make a threat per say. And, in bigger picture, I reflect on comments people make here on FR. If this did result in charges, how many comments made on FR become subject to charges? A slippery slope. Opinions?
Ridiculous! Has anyone here threatened, ever, to kidnap anyone? Has anyone here threatened to kidnap any of the Obama kids? Threatening to kidnap anyone in the First Family, protected by the Secret Service, is not the same as threatening anyone else. Hardly the same “slope”.
He suggested that ICE be hacked and the name of ICE agents released to the left wing crazies. That’s a threat.
Not sure if this warrants charges. He didnt make a threat per say. And, *****
INCITING.
Inciting to riot is a crime.
Inciting to commit a felony with specific criminal results should be covered somewhere.
“Good if he gets a visit, then apologizes. Not sure if this warrants charges. He didnt make a threat per say”
He proposed a threat against the President’s family, which is a felony.
THREATS AGAINST PRESIDENT
18 USC 871, makes it a Federal crime or offense for anyone to willfully make a true threat to injure or kill the President of the United States.
A person can be found guilty of that offense only if all of the following facts are proved beyond a reasonable doubt:
First: That the person uttered words alleged to be the threat against the President;
Second: That the person understood and meant the words he used as a true threat; and
Third: That the person uttered the words knowingly and willfully.
A “threat” is a statement expressing an intention to kill or injure the President; and a “true threat” means a serious threat as distinguished from words used as mere political argument, idle or careless talk, or something said in a joking manner.
The essence of the offense is the knowing and willful making of a true threat. So, if it is proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the person knowingly made a true threat against the President, willfully intending that it be understood by others as a serious threat, then the offense is complete; it is not necessary to prove that the person actually intended to carry out the threat.
“He didnt make a threat per say.”
Do you mean, “per se”?
“If this did result in charges, how many comments made on FR become subject to charges? A slippery slope. Opinions?”
When you preview your posts on FR, you will find this policy:
“Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.”
Sometimes this line is crossed in posts here. However, ordinarily when people talk about the punishment of someone, it is in the context of being charged with a crime. Sometimes it is simply an observation of how street justice works, or even Divine justice.
You will never, ever find a member of FR suggesting that anyone’s child should be given to pedophiles to teach that person a lesson. Such a statement would certainly result in a permanent ban, and probably a report to law enforcement.
Peter Fonda has proven he is a filthy, disgusting, piece of Hollywood trash. But he actually represents a lot of them. He was probably thinking of his Hollywood pals when referring to the pedophiles.
You must work for the FBI.
