WTRF ^ | June 20, 2018 | Staff

A father and son may yet rue the day when an inflatable bounce house came into their lives, should it lead to an extended stay at the “big house.”

In a press release, United States Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia Bill Powell announced federal grand jury indictments of Sergeant First Class Shane Morgan with the West Virginia Army National Guard and Master Sergeant (retired) Russell Morgan.

...”a day of fun on tax dollars.”
——.
Like most people, the military get days off, too. They play on those off days by bowling or golfing, etc. and this facilities must pay for themselves. I’m sure some facilities some where do not, like when stationed in the Middle East and living two in a box that fits on a truck.

What other employer pays for fun for their employees days off?

“But reading the indictment I see the US Attorney wanting $11K in restitution, and apparently the bouncy house was worth more than a thousand bucks. Go figure.”

It’s the government. It probably has the same mark-up as toilet seats or hammers.

Other employers either give you a choice to not go overseas, or pay you enough that you can cover your own expenses for recreation. Doesn’t work that way for the military. You go where you are told, and hope/pray that you are given enough to cover housing and basic needs if your family is going with you.

Almost as much fun as a flying port-a-potty.

...That’s all well and good and makes perfect sense. But to BUY something you use a couple times of year? That’s nuts and not good stewardship of our money. You HIRE a contractor to bring one in for the day...

The contractor will make money on this every time he rents it to you. Far better to buy one and have the profit stay with the service.

Agree with you there... except...

They haven’t been convicted or plead guilty (yet). Innocent until proven guilty. So, I could live with:

“Two men indicted on charges of embezzling $200,000 and a bounce house.”

“What other employer pays for fun for their employees days off?”
-—.
Almost every employer pays for their employees’ days off...
especially salaried employees, like the military. I’m talking about Saturday and Sunday and holidays.
I think you are thinking “days off” means something else.

also...
sick days, and family days, and vacation days are “paid days off”. I’m sure there are others.

Salary employees can work more than 40 hours a week, and get paid the same. Military has lots of “overtime”. During 9-11, I worked 14, 15 hour days for two weeks. Guys deployed on ships, subs work, in a sense, non-stop for months at a time.

An those engaged in conflict, like Army, are gone 11 months at a time, and skype to their family.

An indictment on an incident that happened 8 years ago lodged against “little people” when we have such major crimes like the Awans, Uranium 1,Pedophile and Child traffickers, INC. and the FBI gone rogue. I’m glad I won’t be on that jury, I’d find them innocent just to spite the government’s case!

What is the statute of limitations on such a crime anyway?

The embezzlement occurred between 2009 and 2016.
Evidently the last act of the pair occurred in 2016.
The grand total was $80,000, a significant amount for which they had to forge government documents.

I understand they are pretty small fish but I would vote to convict if the evidence is there. They did steal your money after all.

As far as the big fish always getting away with their crimes it won’t be easy to fix.
Unfortunately at least half the country doesn’t care about the corruption because their congresscritter brings home the bacon.
Another group of hardcore leftists doesn’t care because it’s all part of their revolution.
Sadly, we are in the minority.
