When I was in uniform, the civilian DoD employees joked that it took “dynamite” to dislodge a civilian Federal employee from a tenured position.

These things take a LOT of time due to the bureaucracy and multi-level regulatory protection of these jobs.

Its an unbelievable pain in the ass, and even if there a is a freaking mountain of evidence it can take YEARS. Especially if its a unionized position.

So I would not read anything into the length of time its taken to get their ducks lined up. As far as his HR assignment goes, that was pretty humiliating for a guy who had risen as far as he had.

I wouldn’t worry about the damage he “could have done at HR”, because he wasn’t made the HEAD of HR. He was probably made someone’s assistant and kept under “close supervision”. Sending him to HR (not exactly where the “best and brightest” go) had to be pretty humiliating for a long time “operator”.

His adulterous affair with a co-worker was grounds for discipline by itself (and probably termination), but his “real crime” was that he and Lisa memorialized it “in writing” (along with their ‘job-related’ “pillow talk”, much of which was probably nothing more than the kind of BS that paramours regularly use, but which can SOUND pretty BAD given the positions and jobs they held)!!!

At BEST - unbelievably UNPROFESSIONAL. At worst - borderline treasonous (not in the legal sense).

Welcome to “1984” boys and girls!!! Any communication other than verbal face to face now lives forever.
