The 14 days should be 90 days!

The 14 day time frame for completion of the process is the heart of this proposal. Everything else is window dressing designed to deflect the emotional appeal currently being advanced.

The purpose is to remove the road blocks and deliberate delays now used to bog down the system and pervert the process. A claim would be heard within two weeks of apprehension and the small percentage with a valid claim would be granted asylum but the vast majority without a valid claim would be returned to their home country immediately. There would not be a need to house any individual for more than a maximum of 14 days and as word got out that time frame would likely be reduced. If that date was extended to 90 days, the core purpose of the program would be defeated.
