I have noticed lately that the word “inappropriate” is being used to replace more condemning, yet accurate, words. There’s a big difference between inappropriate and criminal, illegal, etc. Inappropriate describes something like a gift that’s not in good taste, not a criminal activity.

Yep, it's inappropriate to wear cutoffs and tube top to a formal wedding, it's illegal to destroy government property.

It was inappropriate for the man to shoot the clerk dead while inappropriately robbing the QuickMart.
