When I was in the navy and stationed at NAS Lakehurst NJ in 1986, the base was shut down by hurricane Charlie and we were told to stay in the barracks. So I got 8 sailors in my ‘79 Toyota Corolla and headed to Seaside Heights to watch the hurricane come in. It was a tight fit but we made it.

Sometimes I miss the ingenuity and daring of my younger years.
Most times though I wonder how I lived through it.
