It took the SCOTUS to strike down his misnamed BCRA - his effort to cripple the Republican Party and muzzle free speech to help the Democrats into power.
I can’t think of a reason why he should be lauded.
There are literally dozens of un-American malevolent things McCain has done but McCain/Feingold continues to stick in my craw more than any other to this day. It was like spitting in the faces of our Founding Fathers, rebuking the War of Independence and wiping his arse with the Constitution all in one.
