Deep State is inevitable in a technological and legalistic culture. The only way to ensure their strict political neutrality is extreme and immediate punishment for violations.

Americans, and their courts, have no stomach for doing what needs to be done. So we will slide to a more and more Kafkaesque world unless God intervenes.

“The only way to ensure their strict political neutrality is extreme and immediate punishment for violations.”

Correct.

Rule of Law, no exceptions.

And the punishments for government official abuse must be severe. In China it’s death.

Every time.

Or repeal of civil service. A thorough house-cleaning at the start of each new administration would keep the Deep State pruned. I would also limit Senate confirmation to just the top 50 or so positions, and give the cabinet officers hire authority for lower positions.

Make government employment strictly temporary. No pensions, just 401K contributions.
