That was my experience when I myself attended NYC public schools. In all my years there, never ONCE did I see white-on-black violence. The other way around? Almost every single day.
Fortunately for me, I was able to secure a bit of a reputation while still in junior high, and so “that crazy white girl” (yours truly) was always given a wide berth. Of course, it didn’t hurt that I was a six-footer, in perfect physical shape, and most frightening of all...a REDHEAD.
