The deadline for gun owners to register their firearms as assault weapons or modify them to be compliant with the restrictions that resulted from SB 880 and AB 1135 (2016) must be completed by 11:59:59 P.M. on June 30, 2018. NRA opposed these bills because gun registration inevitably leads to gun confiscation.
NRA is continuing the fight against recently enacted gun control laws in the Golden State by supporting ongoing litigation efforts. In the case of Villanueva v. Becerra, challenging the regulations that accompany the Assault Weapons Control Act, an order was recently issued denying the petition to invalidate CA DOJs illegal assault weapon registration regulations. For California gun owners, this decision means that gun owners who possess newly classified assault weapons are subject to DOJs assault weapon registration regulations and have until June 30th to take appropriate actions for compliance. Attorneys in the case are working on an appeal.
To help gun owners understand the requirements of this law, NRA and CRPA attorneys have prepared comprehensive webinars and additional guides which are available by clicking on the links below:

The fascists will never stop
Perfect opportunity to deport all those illegal Zetas and MS-13, right?
This is strictly for California, right?
I just bought an MS-13 and several thousands rounds for it...
Better than the boy band version of MS-13
I (wisely) got out of California decades ago.
Two of my kids are trapped there, by their jobs - but they are looking VERY HARD at options, and will likely escape before being classified as felons (for making a pop-tart into an outline of gun).

What? WTF is this? I haven”t heard of this. What about assault pencils? Should people register those as well? A pencil can quite easily stab someone in the eye.
Thank God I live in a free state, not a slave state like California. God help those who are stuck behind enemy lines.
I was funny as there were reports of cops off duty buying up everything shops had just before the ban. Lots of toys in private collections.
An unjust law is no law at all.
Ignore it.
Many, if not most, aren’t complying.
Believe it or not, Moonbeam didn’t sign every gun law to hit his desk. Our new new guv Gavin will sign EVERY anti-gun law to hit his desk.
Californian owners have no hope save for SCOTUS relief.
