You probably mean a total of three which were granted. I really wonder how the Turk Muslims slipped in. Most asylum applicatons are rejected for the reason that the applicant is "unlikely to adapt well or be happy in the unique culture of Japan."
Successful asylum applicants are going to need at least two of three of the following:
- Fluency in the Japanese language.
- Marriage to a Japanese national.
- A professional skillset which is rare or in high demand in Japan. (Professonal athletes being the best example here).
An extreme strength in #3 might overcome weakness in #1 or #2.
