Domino's Is Fixing America's Crappy Roads For Pizza Safety And That's Pretty Embarrassing
Jalopnik ^ | June 11, 2018 | Jason Torchinsky

This feels like something from a William Gibson cyberpunk dystopia novel, where the government has become so weak and useless, private corporations have been taking over the basic upkeep of the nation. But it’s not a William Gibson novel, there’s no plucky protagonist with some sort of cybernetic implant, it’s just America in 2018, with crumbling roads that Domino’s has decided to fix. For the sake of the pizzas.

Domino’s is tired of their innocent pizzas, who only wish to serve humankind, being beaten all to hell by poorly-maintained roads. They even have a website that shows, in graphic, pizza-box-cam detail, what brutal hell pizzas are put through when their delivery vehicle impacts a pothole.

Almost everyone from NYC talks about how great California roads are ... and they are good.

I’ve just been over Donner Pass on I-80 and in through the Sacramento area to Calistoga. Over to Bodega Bay and back. I do not share your opinion. Some of the worst roads I’ve traveled since leaving Albuquerque. I understand 80 over Donner, due to winter roads, but wine country for all the tourists (I’m here to see family) should not give such a lousy impression.

“Why is it that Democrat states always have the highest taxes, along with the worst roads?”

Corruption.

So all these millions we pay in extra taxes to “fix roads” anytime you buy gas...where’s that money go?? Damn not to road repairs, that’s for sure. Frickin’ government thieves!

Sure, like Domino’s CEO is paying for this out of his own pocket. Snort, this cost will be passed on to customers who already paid taxes for road repairs. The people are being charged twice.

Just wait for a law suit against a repair. Popcorn.

I say let corporations sponsor state highways just like they do stadiums/etc. If Dominos could maintain the New York state Thruway system(for example) and only have their restaurants at the rest stops I say let them. However, I think if there are unions involved they would not like this. I could also see some liability problems for them though.

All that money sucked up into diversity bureaucracy at cities and states and schools, commissions and administrators who do nothing. They waste our money instead of delivering the services that were the reason for their existence. That’s why companies are filling in the gaps, literally.

Hey! Who cares what you think?

We gotta feed, house, and doctor all the bums and wetbacks first!
