White House counsel Don McGahn last summer recused his entire office from handling special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe because many of his staff attorneys had been "significant participants" in events Mueller is investigating, including the firing of FBI Director James Comey and National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, former White House attorney Ty Cobb said Wednesday during a panel discussion at George Mason.
"The White House made a decision to recuse his entire office," Cobb said, according to Politico.
Cobb retired at the end of May and was replaced by Emmet Flood, a veteran defense attorney who has deep experience guiding American presidents, vice presidents, and governors through past scandals.

“Holy shirt. What the hell were these people thinking?”
They were thinking of covering up everything Hillary and Obama while going after Russians who called their bluff. Apparently if this came out today, that means that their job is completed and the redacted IG report will confirm Mueller’s team worked strictly on the Russian tampering probe.
Unfortunately or fortunately for them, their plan backfired and now Mueller will say the investigation is complete and can drop the Russian tampering case (which will quietly be thrown out of court). This will absolve Trump. As far as everything else, the deal will be everyone involved in the coup on Trump will retire and go quietly into the night, with the knowledge that if they open their mouths again, they will all be prosecuted. And the networks will be told that this is no longer front page.
In this sense, everyone wins except the American people, but that’s nothing new.
I can't keep up with all the corruption but on a lighter note (or maybe not), what's in a name..
Yeah....the world cup ain't squat.. It's the "Business Man" VS. the lawyers, that's where the real action is.!!
You’re exactly right. Gee, what could be causing that?
1) Mulehead has nothing. He’s running a smoke screen with nothing.
2) Trump’s popularity is up in every single poll, now at 45% in the most critical, back to 16% favorable with blacks.
3) Most important . . . .
The OIG report must be a doozy if this is the pre-report reaction.
Yesterday fake news had not one, but TWO completely fake stories (”Sarah Sanders to resign,” “Cohen to flip”).
They are really, really scared.
I’m speaking in relation to their dealings with Democrats.
Not generally.
“Seems to be trend on fr toward trump negativity tonite maybe its just trolling or I am wrong.”
I think there is a lot more trolling here than people think. So many of the negative comments are nearly identical in wording - like they are reading it from a script - or going down a list of suggested talking points.
I guess it makes sense that a consevative forum like FR would be the target of trolling operations - to disrupt, distract, and sidetrack honest debate amongst reasonable people, blur the truth wherever possible and shake confidence that Trump is winning.
I understand there can be legitimate critique of Trump and his team, and legitimate concern about the threat of the deep state. But when negative comments are endlessly repeated and echoed - and the message is how doomed Trump is, betrayed even by his own cabinet - and how nothing good will ever happen - there’s a real good chance it’s just a trolling campaign designed to convince Trump supporters that Trump has failed, that he is beaten, that we may as well throw in the towel.
I think in reality that it is Trump and his people who have the upper hand. I think - despite the endless drumbeat of negativity - that the deep state is in disarray - they are leaderless and suspicious of each other and scrambling to make a deal - he who rats first rats best.
I think regardless of which reality you believe - regardless of who has the upper hand, the deep state vs the white hats - either way, the public would be relatively clueless because it’s normal for these departments and agencies to operate in secret. Whatever gets leaked or released to the public is whatever they want the perpetrators to be aware of - we won’t know what actually occurred until years later, if ever.
My hunch that Trump has the upper hand is based on his non defensive behavior. He is not exactly cowering in fear. He’s not making desperate moves to fire people or order people fired. He’s aware of the DOJ withholding information from congress, yet he has not intervened on their behalf - apparently he is convinced that the DOJ’s reason for withholding the information is justified - and that’s good enough for me.
I like your analysis. Hope it plays out that way.
The only people not recused are the central conspirators in an attempt to overthrow the government of the United States.
How much more perverse can the situation get?

Oh, a lot more.
Anyone who stands up to their Nazi like behavior can be accused of “obstructing justice” and taken down for THAT.
You are correct, it was a doozy.
A doozy of a snoozy.
The left have a lot of mafia like tactics to scare people and we know many people have been scared for themselves and their families.
America is getting to be kinda like Mexico in that respect.
Will we start seeing lawmaker assassinations now. The left has about used up all their options. God Help Us!
This was a Loozy. As in loser.
Absolutely nuthin. Some good stuff in the guts of the text, but the overall tone was not one of “We have a culture of corruption/Church Committee” here, but one of “Oh, gee, a couple of the boys had a few too many.”
I’m moving the Zerometer back 25 points.
A doozy of a snoozy."

No kidding. That report was disgusting and a complete letdown.... a "snoozy".
