CP possession exceptions:

Three or less images/videos
You deleted them immediately
You reported them to Law Enforcement.

True pedophiles will have hundred, if not thousands, of videos/images.

Back in the mid 90’s, in the early days of spam, i got an email from as account selling child porn. I immediately forwarded it to the FBI. I never heard back from them. I hope they caught the SOB who sent me the email.

Something similar happened to me, but I didn’t report it. Rather, I documented the trail so that I could defend myself if necessary. The reason is that I’m paranoid about reporting it and that act is the catalyst that STILL lands me in prison.

What happened to me was milder: I was at my desk at a large company I worked for. I was looking for help for sharepoint and did a google search. One of the results seemed promising so I clicked on it. It took me to a very nasty XXX site. I started sweating. What I did was back out to the search page, take a page snapshot (showing the link as “purple text” because I clicked on it) and the description I clicked on (proof that it appeared to be legit). I then copied that image into an email to myself where I typed in the full situation that caused me to hit the site.

The idea was that if they didn’t bring it up, I was in no trouble, but if they DID, I had solid evidence that I was a victim of a mislabeled site.

When it comes to any kind of mindless bureaucracy that could mindlessly crush me, I avoid them at all costs.
