Tuesdays primaries in Virginia, North Dakota, Nevada, South Carolina, and Maine indicated that in many congressional races, vehemently attacking President Trump will not be a winning strategy for either Democrats or Republicans in the Nov. 6 general election.
As weve seen in earlier primaries this year, it was clear Tuesday that while strongly resisting President Trump is certainly damaging to Democrats, doing so is nothing short of catastrophic for Republicans. GOP voters in several races showed once again that they are rejecting lawmakers who decisively break with the president.
Instead of building their campaigns on being anti-Trump, candidates in both parties would be wise to develop compelling moderate policy alternatives and a unifying message that can appeal to centrist and independent voters.
The most prominent Trump critic to go down to defeat in the Tuesday primaries was Republican Rep. Mark Sanford in South Carolinas 1st District. Sanford lost his GOP primary for another term in the House to state Rep. Katie Arrington, a strong supporter and defender of the president.

Mark Sanford is a dead duck.
I heard that, while a lame duck is someone who was defeated for re-election, a dead duck is one who is defeated in the primary election.
Either get on the Trump Train or get ran over.
Amen!
Some politicians listen to other politicians and some listen to the people they serve.
Predictable. It had nowhere else to go
Now we need more clarification of who Trump Republicans are and who are not. Either the latter get on board or get replaced. We need to end the ‘Vote Republican first, Trump supporter second or real Republican or whatever.
Lou Dobbs has been saying the same thing for quite a while. He said yesterday that Trump is definitely now the leader of the GOP.
President Trump needs reinforcements.
Most of the elected GOP are still Bush League Republicans hell bent on turning the USA into North Mexico.
Especially the Senate.
Flake, Corker, Hatch, Heller, Alexander, Graham, McCain, Murkowsky, Hoeven, Rubio, Tillis, Burr, Lankford, Gardner, Cornyn, Hyde-Smith, Collins, Sasse, Kennedy, Shelby, Ernst, Blunt, McConnell, Wicker, Portman, Isakson, Johnson, Toomey, Rounds, Thune, Gaines, Barasso and Enzi are all Bush League Republicans hell bent on making America into North Mexico.
Buh bye!
This was inordinately obvious well over a year ago.
Lets hope the leftists, their yellow bile celebrities, corrupt politicians and black masked street supporters keep up the good work.
I just had a house full of married milenials here for the weekend and they all mentioned. That it is hard to ignore all the good things Trumpi isaccomplishing. They said their peers are coming around and Trump isnt taboo anymore.
Tell McCain.
How true is that !!!!
This is GREAT!!!!
More people will run against RINO’s boldly supporting Trump.
We just have to watch out for TSINO’s now
(Trump Supporters in name only)
Just Democrats? Kim is more willing than some Republicans!
The point is to donate to support FR.
He’ll be dead soon (if they weren’t lying to us).
What Trump said in the campaign is the future. He said then he would be a unifier. It will happen.
