Given their past performance one would have thought we'd see some good performance on their part before rewarding them.

There are new leaders on both sides.

POTUS will not tolerate any backsliding. The sanctions remain in place until the nuclear stockpiles are destroyed, after 20% destruction the process cannot be reversed and it is at that point that POTUS has said that the sanctions may begin to be loosened if NK has fulfilled its agreement terms. We still hold the cards.

I am actually more worried about China waiting, until the Korean peninsula is integrated and the infrastructure and hotel/factories are in place, to stage a takeover bid. I think that is why POTUS wants to bring Russia into the Asian Union so that there will be a bulwark against China.
