"If I ran my company the way liberals want me to, how long would I stay in business?"
And then the next question is: "Why should I support and donate money to politicians, organizations and individuals who want to force me to do that?"
This is the pernicious power of political correctness. It defies all logic and common sense in favor of doing what is the polite thing to do for some flim-flam ideals of social justice. That’s why businesses who should know better still kiss up to these commies.
Bingo on the Amazon guy’s statement.
...
Sounds like a Trump Republican.
The Washington Post should attack him.
These morons could have gone to these deep pockets and simply asked for multi-million $ donations for their homeless problem. Schultz and Bezos, both, love their liberal progressive philanthropy and the optics of “giving.” They get the big tax write-off and it doesn’t hurt. Forcing them to pay a “head tax,” however, just eats at the bottom line and pisses off their shareholders. These politicians are mental midgets. The answer to every problem is to tax it.
The reason why the city council backed down is because the anti head tax group got over 40,000 signatures in a matter of 3 weeks to put a referendum on the ballot to stop the head tax. Polls have shown over 80% of Seattle residents were against this. If placed on the ballot, the overturn would be a huge slap in the face of the council. Another reason is the lib mayor has a couple of tax proposals in the upcoming election, one being free college. She did not want that competing with the head tax proposal. Also, I think the council is afraid that they will be voted out with popular sentiment against this tax.
