At his meeting with Kim Jong Un, President Trump played a videotape of what the future could look like in a freer and more prosperous North Korea.
He said the North Koreans seemed very interested in it:
But that was a version of what could happen, what could take place. As an example, they have great beaches. You see that whenever they are exploding their cannons into the ocean, right? I said, boy, look at that view. Wouldn't that make a great condo behind--?
And I explained, I said, you know, instead of doing that you could have the best hotels in the world right there. Think of it from a real estate perspective. You have South Korea, you have China, and they own the land in the middle, how bad is that, right? It's great.
But I told them, you may not want to do what's there (on the videotape). You may do a smaller version of it, and that could be. Although I tell you what, he looked at that tape, he looked at that iPad, and I'm am telling you, they really enjoyed it, I believe.

President Trump keeps exceeding my wildest expectations for him.
Thank God, Almighty!
The Donald might be the loving uncle Kim never had.
Maybe even a father figure.
Hey, if it works, I am good with that!
Kim is surrounded by an ultra-hardcore communist military command.
It will be interesting to observe this staunch echelon in reaction to this new agreement.
And the ship captured in ‘68... still not returned
Videotape??? What's that??? :O)
I agree Kim wants to preserve the regime.
He is not fixated on ideology but on power.
He realizes his country is weak and backward and needs to modernize to survive.
Japan did it in the Meiji Era and became a leading Asian power.
The question is whether the Kim regime is willing commit North Korea to such a goal in the 21st Century.

But dictatorial oligarchs do.
Perhaps Kim will name his first new resort “TRUMPTOPIA”.
“Mueller will begin investigating collusion with North Korea”
I am just LOVING this - there is really nothing that the Leftists and Never-Trumpers can say except “sour grapes, blah, blah, blah” about this. Even if it turns out to be nothing, at least talks were started...but I believe that Kim is not that stupid, and at age 34 he looks at what other dictators have managed to do with some modicum of crony capitalism in their own countries (not just wealth, but long life), and he wants some of that for himself. Well, denuclearizing against a foe that you can NEVER defeat, and who is offering all of this to you, is actually a very wise move.
BTW, I believe that he’s learned from Merkel - she’s EAST German, and running the whole shooting match over there (not well, mind you, but she’s in charge)...and he sees himself there in a couple of decades. God forbid that such should occur, but the temptation in HIS mind is, IMHO, driving him. Trump is using this to our advantage, whereas Obama didn’t have the imagination or interest to do that - ever, with anyone else. This makes the Left go nuts...which is a complete bonus for the rest of us.
LANDSLIDE 2020! 40 states for Trump, plus increased margins in Congress, plus at least 2 more Supreme Court seats for Originalists.
So, I think Trump's appeal to him was perfect. The US has no interest in invading North Korea, or even overthrowing the government. We simply want a peaceful Korean peninsula.
And we didn't have to offer loads of money to move North Korea towards peace-we only had to offer something that we were already doing-not interfering.
There are two things I’d like to believe after watching all this go down.
1: Kim wants peace and prosperity for his nation, though it’s probably mostly for selfish reasons. From what I’ve seen, even the average lower middle class American lives better than Kim does, and he wants a piece of that.
2: Trump knows this, and after spending the last year or so applying the stick in order to make sure that Kim realizes that he’s not going to get anywhere with a belligerent attitude, he’s giving the carrot now and making a deal that’s good for everyone involved.
At least that’s what I’m thinking after I’ve watched all this.
Kim is really going to get pissed when he realizes what a gyp that time share he just bought really is
It may be that Kim’s “rocket man” persona was a sort of outreach, acting like a bully til the big kid on the playground confronted him and told him to knock it off, but then invited him to join the big kid club. I don’t think anyone considers Kim to be stupid, he’s well aware of the western world and how NK is failing, but he needed a path to follow and Trump has given him one.

Send them on "fact-finding" missions to the Riviera, Tahiti, St Moritz. THen give them each a 5-Star beachfront resort...!
The folks in Gaza were told the same thing. They could have been a major Mediterranean destination. Basically a Dubai that enjoyed both Egyptian and Israeli protection.
N. Korea could do themselves a great service by taking that advice.
“Starving people dont think about real estate. Distraction.”
People in the Eastern bloc were enticed by Levi jeans, rock music, and Dallas reruns.
