After a one-on-one meeting and an expanded bilateral working session with senior aides from the United States and North Korea in Singapore Monday, President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un officially established a new relationship under a joint agreement of the eventual denuclearization of the regime.
"President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and sincere exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new U.S.–DPRK relations and the building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Chairman Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," Trump and Kim released in a joint statement at a signing ceremony early Tuesday morning.
"The United States and the DPRK commit to hold follow-on negotiations, led by the U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and a relevant high-level DPRK official, at the earliest possible date, to implement the outcomes of the U.S.–DPRK summit," the statement continues.
Both leaders agreed to the following:
1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.–DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

Kim expressed gratitude for the historic meeting.
"Today we had a historic meeting and decided to leave the past behind and we are about to make a historic change," Kim said. "I want to express my gratitude to President Trump to make this meeting happen."
President Trump confirmed he plans to meet with Kim "many times" in the future and held a press conference to close out the summit. He also said the U.S. will stop military exercises with South Korea and said eventually the U.S. could pull troops out of the region completely.
"Chairman Kim and I just signed a joint statement in which he reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula," Trump said. "As history has proven over and over again, adversaries can indeed become friends...We're prepared to start a new history, and we're ready to write a new chapter between our nations."
“Anyone can make war, but only the most courageous can make peace," Trump continued, stressing he has given up nothing at this point in negotiations. "We will be stopping the war games, which will save us a tremendous amount of money, unless and until we see the future negotiation is not going along like it should."

Until denuclearization is complete, economic sanctions on North Korea will remain in place. President Trump is on his way back to the United States.

Love the body language in that handshake. Trump owns Kim.
The Democrats must be deeply saddened by this news.
Yes, they know Republicans are going to do well in November.
That seems to be the President's goal. He was very clear this morning on his ultimate goal of bringing troops back from overseas. He noted it won't take place overnight but if he has any say in it then it will take place. And I take that to mean Japan as well as Korea. He's complained about the cost time and again.
Our southeast asian allies are a lot different than our western European allies.
If the President is that adamant about bringing troops home from Korea then I would say that all the troops in Europe should be expecting to be packing up and coming home as well.
I believe that part of Japan’s surrender terms was a military of no more than 100,000. Not sure if that ever got changed or not.
There is just no winning with these people.
I know there’s a lot of celebration in the air, but other than the handshake, what did we get that Bill Clinton didn’t get?
In real terms, not pomp and circumstance.
A meeting with Kim? Something Norklandia has always wanted, and the US has always avoided.
Verifiable disarmament? Peace treaty with recognized borders? Mutual non-aggression pact?
After all the descriptions of the deal I can find, I can only discern we got a promise...and a handshake.
Are you on board to have peace in the region, and stop wasting our money on being the world’s police? Or are you wanting to keep the globalist “war / threat of war, everywhere, all the time” status quo?
Can’t have it both ways.
I don’t give a rat’s tail what “language” they prefer to use in describing our presence in the region. What matters is positive results for all sides - something the Republocrat-globalist establishment despises.
You’re either on board with that outcome, or you’re not.

“while Taiwan, Japan and the rest of the SE Asian countries will be ramping up their militaries”
I wouldn’t say that’s necessarily a bad thing. Eventually you have to take off the training wheels.
Has the carping and complaining started yet? Trump gave away the farm! Why isn’t this agreement ratified by the Senate yet? The ink is already dry! He just wanted a photo op. WAAAAH!
Why does he need a Nobel Peace Prize? Does it dispense PEZ?
Yep all predictable. I think Sen. Linda Graham is already carping about how this need's his signature and his fellow senators - ugh.
I trust Trump will be smart enough to know he can not trust Kim.
If we pull troops out of South Korea, you can bet the North will invade again.
“At some point, the US media will stop calling President Trump a crazy, stupid failure. Right?”
We’ll see. Actually, I hope not, because the continuation of such blatant cognitive dissonance of the leftist fake stream media’s depiction of reality vs ACTUAL reality can only result in a further crumbling of what little credibility remains to them, and consequently the further diminution of
their already greatly reduced influence.
Given that for all practical purposes the leftist fake stream media currently IS the Democrat Party, anything that diminishes the leftist fake stream media further weakens the failing Democrats.
That would be a question for the President. I've never been in the military and don't know how much individual things like military exercises or basing troops and ships and planes overseas costs.
