It aint that anemic Here in Colorado, a centerfire rifle cartridge has to have at least 1,000 ft-lbs of energy at 100 yards to be used on big game. .30 Carbine has 626 at that range.
By comparison, the lowly .30-30 (considered quite a slowpoke these days) has 1,357 ft-lbs of energy at 100 yards.
Yes, it is that anemic.
