We have a right to think and speak freely, which means our actions are free, also, up to the point when we do harm to another person.
OR
We are a nation that pursues interpersonal justice over free association, and mandates relations between people based on diversity, color, race, sex, etc., etc.
We can't be both. We can do some of column a and some of column b, but not both.
I only argue that those intrinsic things that biologically make us who we are harms us if discriminated upon by another person. So not allowing blacks (who share skin pigments with their ancestors who evolved under a bright hot sun) just because they're black is wrong. Or just because you're a women, doesn't mean you get paid less than a man.
More so, this country was also founded on the principles of religious freedom. We would do well to NEVER abandon that.
To that end I expect a court or lawmakers to be extremely careful when it comes to religious issues. They don't get a pass, but compelling anyone to violate their beliefs that do not harm others is just wrong.
Now in regards to homosexuality. If one wants to be gay, or live a gay lifestyle, that is their business alone. But now asking others to celebrate that is wrong.
I contend that Gayness is a choice and is not intrinsic. Others argue, but at least as far a sex goes, that is not only a choice, it takes, as they say, two.
That is why baking a cake for a gay marriage is not the same as telling blacks they can't eat at my restaurant.
The Colorado baker said he'd gladly sell the gay couple any and all cakes he had on display, but he wouldn't create a specific one celebrating their marriage. That is CLEARLY not the same as refusing them service.
There are a number of young men who now call themselves Incels, for "Involuntarily Celibate". In other words, they cannot get dates. Who knows why?
But they say that because women won't have sex with them, they are being discriminated against!
So if gays have an intrinsic right to be gay, why don't Incels also have an intrinsic right to sex with women?
Where the hell do we draw the line?
How does it compare to telling "The Bloods" and "The Crips" they can't be in your restaurant?
