Israel launched an unscheduled military exercise on the Golan Sunday, June 10. Thousands of army reservists were ordered to report for immediate duty with full gear and come directly from their homes and work places. That the sudden IDF announcement did not set a timeline for the exercises ending indicated that it was prompted by the Syrian military announcement on the same morning of a major army offensive impending this week in the Quneitra region opposite Israels Golan border.

“according to DEBKAfiles sources, the Syrian offensive is planned to take place in conjunction with Hizballah forces and the pro-Iranian Shiite Liwa Abu Fadl al-Abbas militia from Afghanistan, which fights under Revolutionary Guards officers who have already taken up position outside Quneitra.”
Now that they’re playing games by dressing up Iranians as Syrians, Israel may be forced to move into that region and ‘purge’ the Iranians.
The Afgans wear IRGC uniforms all part of the Iranian deniability plan; the Afgans make up only a small part of the Syrian 4th and 5th armored
No legitimate sources for this?
Thanks for pointing that out.
The Iranians have raised separate mercenary units for service in Syria, mostly from among poor Afghan and Pakistani Shi’ites.
When Iran committed forces to shore up Assad, they took a lot of casualties, and it became a domestic political difficulty for the regime (still is a big sore point with their population). So they have rotated their regular Army units back home, and raised a sort of Foreign Legion.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps has the mission for exporting the Khomeinist Revolution outside their borders, and does this mainly by organizing local militias to operate as their surrogates. Hizbullah in Lebanon was their first, and is their best developed. They also have big militias in Iraq, that got heavy weapons during the fight against ISIS.
In the last few years, they raised a new type of units - lots of foreign troops (like Afghan Hazara Shi’ites from the refugee community in Iran), with a small cadre of Iranian officers and technical specialists.
Some of those troops may have been used to fill out Syrian Arab Army units, but mostly they are in their units, operating under direct Iranian command.
In the last month, airstrikes from Israel, and disruption in pay from financial sanctions, have been reported to have caused widespread desertions among the foreign mercenaries.

...The IDF emphasized the exercise was planned in advance as part of the training drill for 2018, and is intended to maintain the readiness of Israel’s armed forces...
Iranian cannon fodder so to speak?
Good as any these days ...
This is a new development - the use of Iranian and other troops wearing Syrian uniforms deployed as several Syrian armored armies - this to maintain plausible deniability in the US_Russian military talks going on about the Syrian/Israeli Golan situation. Iranian troops are no longer separate.
“So they have rotated their regular Army units back home, and raised a sort of Foreign Legion.”
Probably why Barry Soetero gave them all those pallets of cash a while back. The Afghani’s and Pakistanis probably don’t have checking accounts.
“This is a new development - the use of Iranian and other troops wearing Syrian uniforms”
Here is another report of that new development:
They report going so far as to give the soldiers identity papers in the names of dead Syrians. I guess that Assad could grant them citizenship with the stroke of a pen.
The Iranians are quite slick - they need to be eradicated from the roots, through regime change. In the mean time, I’d think that you have to just identify the Iranians and their surrogates, and kill them - regardless of the disguises they adopt.
