So yes, basically that is true. The Antichrist (many names for him in the NT and OT) will arise and the Tribulation and Great Tribulation will .... (wait for it) .... come to pass.
I think history is against you because universal top down order doesn't work. It operates on the fundamental fallacy that those at the top can make universal decisions for everyone everywhere and that they will serve the interests of the broader community rather than themselves. It fails time and time and time and time and time again.

Many thought Hitler’s conquest of Europe and attack on England was inevitable too. The whole world except France thought England would squash the rebellious farmers at Concord, Valley Forge, and Yorktown too. That included two-thirds of the American population at the time. One third of America with the help of the French fought for and WON our INDEPENDENCE from British Tyranny and Slavery. We are America! We can do anything we damn well choose. It’s going the other way. The soviet union busted up, so did Yugoslavia, Chekoslovakia. There are independence movements all over the globe, and the EU itself is fracturing.
