The same thing happened in 1977 after Hubert Humphrey's death from cancer. He was the glue that held the DFL together.
In 1978, it was a Republican year in Minnesota.
Yes! We also have very high hopes of ousting Tina Smith as US Senator. She is the one who is filling Al Franken’s seat.
She is formerly the head of Planned Parenthood of Minnesota.
Minnesota is a strong Pro-life state. Once again we are up against the Twin Cities news media. Last Friday when both parties had their state conventions and were endorsing candidates for the 2 [two!] US Senate seats, the totally neglected to mention that Tina Smith has an opponent named Karin Housely At the GOP convention her name was put in nomination by her husband, Phil Housely, who is currently the head coach of the Buffalo Hockey team. Phil and Karin Housely have raised 4 children, and she is an attorney and is currently a Minnesota Senator - now running for US Senator [to fill the rest of Al Franken’s term].
If you are not aware of who Phil Housely is, he is considered the best hockey player to ever come out of Minnesota - which is quite a big deal in hockey crazy Minnesota. Karin needs our support. She is a great candidate and will bring a bit of balance against Amy Klobuchar, who is a near certainty to win reelection.
