New talk of President Trump possibly pardoning himself drew pushback from Republicans on the Sunday show circuit this week.
Both Congressional Republicans and the president's attorney, Rudy Giuliani, urged caution that a self-issued pardon could be politically problematic for Trump.
But Giuliani said the president “probably” has the power to give himself a pardon even though doing so would prove to be difficult.
“I think the political ramifications of that [pardoning] would be tough. Pardoning other people is one thing. Pardoning yourself is another,” Giuliani told ABC’s “This Week.”

The POTUS cannot pardon himself.....or you open the nation up to a dictator without checks and balances.

Not true. POTUS certainly can pardon himself... but that does not prevent removal by Impeachment. Thus, Congress still can prevent the dictatorship.

That’s one of the reasons for it instead of normal prosecution.

Trump’s pardon power is another good reason Trump didn’t have any reason to obstrut Russia investigation. discussing it highlights the fact Trump will not fear indictment or subpoena and that Mueller has no ultimate leverage.

Exactly! It would be no more ridiculous than discussing whether Trump would pardon himself when...
a) He hasn’t been convicted of a crime.
b) He hasn’t been charged with a crime.
c) He can’t be charged with a crime.
d) Mueller hasn’t accused him of a crime.
e) Mueller has never said he is investigating a crime.
f) Mueller said Trump is not a target of his investigation.
g) Mueller hasn’t specifically said what he is investigating.
h) Rosenstein hasn’t either.
And yet the press is running around with its hair on fire discussing it after Rudy answered a hypothetical question. With a hypothetical answer.
