Yellowstone boss to retire after Trump agency proposed move

BILLINGS, Mont. — Yellowstone National Park’s superintendent said Friday that he plans to retire next year from a job he called “the best in the National Park Service” and dismissed speculation that the Trump administration pushed him out for political reasons.

Superintendent Dan Wenk told The Associated Press that he decided last fall he would retire in early 2019 after more than four decades with the National Park Service.

His seven years leading one of the premier national parks have been marked by an explosion in visitor numbers; tension with neighboring states over wild bison slaughters, wolf hunting and grizzly bears; and a sexual harassment scandal involving Yellowstone’s maintenance division that echoed allegations at other national parks.

Wenk, 66, said he had not planned to announce his decision to leave so far in advance but went public following recent news reports that said he faced possible transfer to a job in Washington, D.C.

He confirmed that a transfer had been proposed — a possibility that had stoked concerns among conservation groups that Interior Department Secretary Ryan Zinke was reassigning senior park service staff for punitive or political purposes.

----

An investigation into 35 reassignments proposed in the Interior Department since Zinke took office revealed that 16 senior employees viewed their moves as political retribution or punishment for their work on climate change, energy or conservation.

What a load of crap. This article is just another political hit piece on the Trump administration.

So getting rid of 0bama hold overs who probably spend too much time on "climate change" and not enough on their job is retribution.

I haven’t forgotten the park service employees who closed the parks, denied vets access to memorials, shut down the monuments, etc., because the government was officially “closed”.

Couldn’t care less about this bureaucrat or that one.

When are we going to get that “National Parks” are an unconstitutional federal land grab that the states should reaquire and run as State Parks? National Parks were Teddy Roosevelt’s “feel-good” tyranny that especially under Obama began to feel pretty bad as tyranny sooner than later does.

State should take over unconstitutional National Parks and make them State Parks according to the will of the people of the state.

“...he decided last fall he would retire in early 2019 after more than four decades with the National Park Service....”
*************************************************
So he reached a point where he “maxed out” his pension? Lots of folks plan to retire when they reach such a point. And the Compost uses that as a FAKE NEWS story attacking Trump? They’re clearly running out of ammunition.

The National Park employees I’ve met informally all viewed the parks as “THEIRS” and complained they had to put up with tourists in THEIR park.

Well tbh they were told to do this. I do not have any issue with conservation. As a matter of fact it’s vital, but the left as usual have corrupted great thngs and turned them ugly and a vehicle for wealth distribution.

Not just Obammie supporters.

Most on the Fed payroll HATE Trump.

They view him as a real and present threat to their livelihood.

It is called propaganda. And a pretty clear example of it.

Most of the Park people I have met were idiots.

The last was a nice young lady who sat that talking about black bears, and had no blessed idea of ANYTHING about black bears.

The old farmer next to me finally got out and started talking about how they really act. She got rather mad till another old guy stood up and agreed with him.

Listening to those two, we saw a lot of bears. Those who listened to the park lady, didn’t see a single one. Seems like she was rather upset that the bears were going to where the food was (bean fields) rather than the nicely sculpted swamp where her “research” said they should be.

And let me tell you those North Carolina black bears were FAT!

Most nature parks are in American territory but if you take in one of their shows you will be shocked at the amount of socialist propaganda. City slicker leftists have infected even the nature parks.

The idea of “This land is your land” is long gone. Arlo Guthrie was not exactly a Conservative but he would be appalled of the left and our country today.

But yet they found the money to hire security guards to make sure no one entered the areas designated as being closed off. Even if it was a public sidewalk or part of a public park.
