A good example of this was in a movie I saw called “The Pianist”. A bunch of Jewish people, early on in the conflict, are being housed in a room in the city and in the middle of the night a German officer tells them to get out of bed and line up on the street with their luggage, and no talking. As they do, a very young married couple are getting situated in line and the wife asks the officer, “how long will this take?” He pulls out his Ruger and shoots her in the forehead and continues giving instructions to the rest like he’d just swatted a mosquito on his arm.

I believe you meant his Luger. Or, as the Germans called it, Pistole ‘08.
I’ve shot both and Ruger is my preference.
