A Florida mother was reeling after her 9-month-old daughter was fatally mauled by a pit bull as she sat in a bouncy chair,...Brenda Villasin, 24,...said she’s not ready to blame the breed entirely. "I still don’t feel any type of way about a pit bull," Villasin told the Herald.

Not all pits are like that! I don’t see what breed has to do with anything. It’s culture and upbringing. This is Democrats trying to set one breed against another. I knew a pit back in the service ...

That’s the truth! My dept’s accountant’s sister in law was attacked by her own female pit bull just last week after breaking up a fight between three of her pitbulls (male, female and offspring) and had the back of her leg torn up pretty good....

May not be typical, but...

He got along with all the farm animals..Sometimes a little too fine...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PozxE8Vnwm0

The only biting that took place happened when he had passed by a feeding horse in the stable
and I reckon the horse thought he was a bit too close to the feed and swung his head around a bit Sam on the ass.

"It is also wise never to trust young children around dogs."

I trust the children well enough. There are some breeds of dogs that I won't trust around children, though.

You’d have a difficult time convicting her of “infanticide”

“Infanticide (or infant homicide) is the intentional killing of infants.”

I agree with all that you posted but I would also like to add something that is also a trigger. Squealing and/or crying.Dogs will instinctively attack other animals and other dogs that squeal in distress. So happens young children do that quite often, also, dogs can pick up on it’s owners possible animosity in regards to a crying or squealing child.

Why would you trust young children around dogs?
They are too young to know how to properly interact with a dog.
Without close supervision, it is asking for trouble.

Here’s a recent one that came to my attention...
even older children need to be taught how to act around dogs....

Heh. Yep. A long time ago, in a different America, I grew up with a normal, healthy boxer and never saw a pit bull before adulthood. That boxer was my buddy. Sadly, many pit bull owners have recently been claiming that their pit bulls are boxers, too.

I’ve always said that pit bulls are the preferred dog of the criminal class between meth addict trailer trash, gang bangers, and drug dealers.

There was a stray boxer-something mix (basically a proto pit) in my neighborhood when I was about 13 that attacked my dog, and charged me. I shot him in his left buttock with a .22. He reconsidered his desire to bite me. Ever since then I’ve seen the wisdom of having firearms on hand to deal with violent breeds. I was a soft kid back then. Today I would use a higher caliber and a shovel.

Pit Bulls are the AR-15 of dogs.

“Assault” dogs.

Pit Bulls are being unfairly “demonized”.

If it were any other breed, the headline would be...

“Dog fatally mauls 9-month-old in bouncy chair”

You’re trying to convince people who’ve had bad experiences with pit bulls and owners of pit bulls, me included. I’ve had several relatives, friends and neighbors who were attacked and menaced by those dogs. Many of us have decided that we won’t put up with it any more.

I’ll be informing people on how to more reasonably defend themselves against the more dangerous dogs in various situations. That won’t include myths about averting their gaze from the eyes of dangerous animals or avoiding healthy activities or routes because of them.

Dogs don’t see colors. Dogs see movement. Dogs have extreme senses of smell and hearing. People will also learn more about dog anatomy, pepper sprays, tasers, sticks, blades, insurance/retainers, and yes, firearms and good ballistics information for public safety and effectiveness.

People have rights to go where they wish on public thoroughfares and even to knock on doors on private properties in emergencies without so much as fear of being mauled by dangerous dogs.

Dogs are not people. They are animals. Reasonable human beings love animals for what they are—not for what unreasonable human beings want to believe about animals. People in the U.S.A. have constitutional rights. Animals do not. Our proper relationship with animals in general is explained well enough in Genesis.

There are important differences between dogs and AR-15s. But yes, there are excessively dangerous breeds other than pit bulls. Those are getting to be too popular with criminals, too.

Other dog breeds bite. Dachshunds bite a lot. However, the major difference is the ability to bite and kill from the pressure of the jaws in an instant. You probably will not die from the bite of a wiener dog. This is why Pitbulls were bred to fight over other breeds.

All Terriers(a Pitbull is the slang name for the AKC breed American Staffordshire Terrier) were bred to hunt and kill vermin. Also, many hunting hound breeds such as Fox Hounds(fox), Dachshunds(badger), etc were bred to hunt and kill other animals. Bulldogs were bred to fight male bovine(bulls). Hence the name.

The problem with pitbulls is that they are being bred in such large volume that they are inexpensive to buy.
A Cane Corso is a much bigger, just as dangerous, protection dog breed. They are very expensive. Therefore, the poorer folks can not afford them.

Shelters are par of the problem with pitbulls. Instead of killing them, they continue to sell them to people and lie about their registration(typically calling them a lab mix).
They know that if you admit to owning a pitbull it may VOID your home owners insurance policy. Many insurers will not cover you IF you own a Pitbull, Rotwieller, German Shepard, Doberman. If you tell them they will refuse to insure your residence.

I have to admit that I enjoy goading the easily-excitable fanatic apologists, but seriously it’s been a bloody thirty days or so. My silence today, in remembrance of the fallen victims of these canine vermin
