The Irish mostly hate the English, of course. There was actually some sympathy for Germany during WWII. Does that have anything to do with it?

No doubt there was an undercurrent, but it stayed under wraps with the godless left not being mainstream. My late father never experienced antisemitism there in the 70s and 80s. The left is antisemitic by dogma:
“What is the secular basis of Judaism? Practical need; self-interest. What is the worldly religion of the Jew? Huckstering. What is his worldly god? Money. Very well, then! Emancipation from huckstering and money—consequently, from practical, real Judaism—would be the self-emancipation of our time.” …

The prophet of leftism dogmatizes the old stereotype. The EU’s influence over Ireland is Marxism in effect, albeit soft Marxism at first; the soft, gradual approach is actually the closest to the way Marx and Engels wanted things (since their writings advised a takeover of the bourgeois property “by degrees”), but the end is the same.
