They are used to pry open markets from which your own products are defended.
US companies pay 25% for every car sold in China. Ergo, we sell no cars in China. China pays no such tariff, nor does Europe.

According to many here - tariffs are only bad when we impose them - when other countries impose them on us and end up with hundreds of billions of our dollars in the imbalance, that's a good thing for us ---and supposedly a bad thing for those raking in our billions.....
